The Unknown Beauty Of The 80s

From 3 October 1982 until 19 August 1984 the radio program Spleen run on the Dutch Radio. This radio show offered the listener a mix of New Wave, Punk, Synthpop, Reggea and Folk music among other styles. During two hours there was a kind of structure in the program, with the cover song, a live concert, new releases, a block of world music and a block introducing an artist.

The funny thing about the show was that people could receive a weekly magazine containing the tracklist and background information.

For a couple of years now several persons are trying to recreate the tracklists and putting the shows together again from the magazines, which are digitized as well.

One of the presenters was Ignit van Kasteren of the duo Van Kaye+Ignit.

This week I started to collect songs from shows not available sofar.

This new Volume featured tracks from the shows broadcasts. The exception to the rule is Kino, which was a band featuring Sarah Gregory (Sarah Osborne married Glen Gregory of Heaven 17), who was in the bands Repetition, Marine and Allez Allez (not featured on this Volume).

Well enjoy this new installment.
