Sofar I presented you 115 Volumes of Synthpop, New Wave, Goth Rock, Indie Rock, Alternative Rock and sporadically threw in a Progressive Rock song (remember Esquire, IQ and Twelfth Night?). I always was careful to present the prog in this Volumes since I know people love it or hate it, although funny enough I became interested in Progressive Rock through New Wave and New Romantic music. So why finally a twist and present you a Volume with Unknown “Progressive Rock” Beauty Of The 80’s. Well this needs an explanation. Last Sunday, I was checking something on Discogs, when I read in the introduction of the band info that part of the content was taken from a booklet called “The History Of British Progressive Rock Of The Eighties”. I have that booklet on my book shelve for ages. So I defoliated through the booklet and decided to import all discography information of all bands mentioned in the booklet into an Excel file. This info I compared with Discogs and complemented the list. And

A lot has happened over the past few months after Covid-19 hit the world. That gave me a lot of time to sort my hard drives and prepare 15 Volumes which are presented here with only the links and not the play lists. And so we come on the last April Friday of the year 2020 to Volume 100. Never did I expect when I started this project way back in 2005, that I would get to number 100. But well I reached the 100. I am not gonna predict how long I wish to continue, simply because I still like to search for Unknown Beauties and also I am a hugh fan of eighties New Wave, Synthpop etc. and prefer and appreciate to listen to non charting alternative music. Of which I always wonder why did such nice tunes not make it into the charts. With the Covid-19 virus still being active all over the world, and still working at home, I save at least two hours of commuting traffic, which I use for other things. With this Corona virus thrashing around and half Europe on lock down and working from home I thought I bring you a new Volume of the never ending story of "The Unknown Beauty Of The 80s". And to be honest this one has a bit of a thread. the first New Wave / Synthpop record I bought was in March 1982, when I got the 12" of I Ran by A Flock Of Seagulls. I guess it was the first record I bought not being influenced by a friend or someone from high school. Already so many volumes behind me I decided to look back at the real early 80's, with even some '79 songs. The total of 25 songs were taken from the period 1979-1982. The second thread is the optimistic and good vibe of the songs. I n these uncertain days, we need some light to take us to the end of this Corona tunnel. Nearly two months ago I thought I had presented enough Dutch New Wave to you. 35 Volumes in three years, I thought I call it a day. But soon it turned out, although I brought you quit a lot of new names, I didn't present you the whole bunch. I know I can't deliver you all the Dutch bands which were making New Wave, Synthpop, Gothic or Alternative music in the period of 1977-1988, but I could try to get as close as possible. So somewhere halfway of January I reduced the list of groups, which I was desperate to find, mainly because I was curious about their music as well. A couple of Discogs orders later I was pretty sure I had a new Volume on the break of release.
