An Introduction To Dutch New Wave Vol. 32
And that
brings us to Volume 32 of An Introduction To Dutch New Wave. This time 65% of
the numbers came from recent purchased vinyl. I will keep telling that Discogs
has become a major resource for discovering and hunting vinyl from bands and
artists, that sometimes released one single only. But since a couple of weeks I
am using a great cross reference site called Nederlandse vinylsingles. The guys behind
this site are doing a great job, tracking down all Dutch vinyl singles.
Some
information on several songs.
The Kimono
track is spelled wrong. I kept it this way, since the cover of the single shows
the same title. It’s one of the groups of which I used the single b-side
instead of the a-side. The others are Blackout (b-side of Obscure Disco), G.T.
Modell (b-side of Scratch Your Act) and Weekend At Waikiki (b-side of The
Valley).
Frederic And
The Flies was a one off project by producer duo Bolland and Bolland. Not only
the group name refers to Adam And The Ants, the song contains ingredients of
Stand And Deliver.
The live tracks of Prima Volta, Creditz and Fall Out were
taken from the cassette Hollandse Nieuwe 2 (Melkweg live, 1984).
Skeletronics is a doubtful contribution. The band was original
founded by the Israeli Danny Shoshan. Alice Schreij, who through her LinkedIn
page tells to be a member of Skeletronics since 1983 as well along with Okkie
Huysdens (known for ‘Stars On 45’ and ‘The President’ among others). Both are
Dutch and are mentioned in discogs on the release ‘Coming Alive’. I am still
Than at last there are the one release wonders being Kimono,
Prima Vista, Victor Fictoor and James Joy. The later two being the same artist
Victor Heeremans.
Also interesting to mention. Tom de Jong was the singer of
G.T. Modell. Last Friday he did the blind audition for “The Voice Senior” and came
through.

sorry to tell you the access to Vol.32 is restricted because of wrong key or something like that.
Really like listening to your stuff. Very much appreciating it. End 70s till mid 80s I heard quiet a lot of New Wave as well as extremely strange U-ground music from all over the world, but the Netherlands were very scarce back then. Acutely, with exception of a few trax, not even on the map. Not even in the quirky record stores I regularly frequented. I never thought there were so many bands and projects - and at the very least at this high quality - playing New Wave and off beat tunes.
Thanks and keep it up.
