Tesselaar family brewery Diks
When I mention Texel the first thing family and friends mention is a visit to the Texelse beer brewery. Well to be honest after this long weekend on the isle the first brewery which pops up in my mind won't be this brewery but the Tesselaar family brewery Diks.
A small brewery where you are welcomed home, with an enthusiatic family that produces a small line of well crafted and sublime tasting beers (father Maurice Diks was for years the brewmaster of the Texelse and quite soms beers are from his hand), which are served in a cosy tasting room.
Things and encounters happen for a reason. On Thursday we visited a local retailer in De Koog, when someone with a Tesselaar logo on his shirt walked in and checked the stock. I asked him, later it turned out to be Jasper Diks, if it was possible to visit the brewery and do a tour. There were no tours on Thursday and the tour on Saturday was already full, but we were welcome in the tasting room.
So after shopping we drove to the brewery at Spinbaan 11 in Den Burg, and were welcomed by Jaspers twin sister Marinka. She received us enthusiatic and told us a lot about the young brewery and it's beers, which are only available and served on the Ilse of Texel.
When a group of Germans walked in we fortunatly got our tour. Before and after we tasted some very nice beers in taste glasses. In the end we bought some bottles and were enthusiatic waved out by the family. This afternoon, after a request from family, I shortly visited the brewery again and was welcomed home by Jasper and Marinka.
I never experienced this warm and enthusiatic welcome before at visiting other (bigger) breweries, which makes this brewery so unique. I can only recommand when you are on Texel, visit Tesselaar familiebrouwerij Diks for a unique experience and a nice glas of beer.
